I was watching Ellen the other day & she had Beyonce on to perform a couple of songs. The first one was 'Single Ladies.' Have you seen the video for this one? The first time I saw it, I thought I had seen the choreography before. I realized I had seen the moves on a video with 3 women dancing to 'Walk It Out.' It was actually Gwen Verdon and some backup dancers doing 'Mexican Breakfast,' which had been choreographed by Bob Fosse:
So, 'Single Ladies' has a lot of the same moves. Apparently, Beyonce did it as a tribute to Fosse. I think she just saw the Youtube video & liked it:
Her last performance on Ellen's show was 'Flaws and All.' I had never seen or heard this song before then, and it was really moving. She began crying during her performance. It seems that she cries every time she performs this song. I've read that some speculate it's just a marketing ploy, but I think it's real. Either way, it has the effect of intensifying the feeling of the song. One day I hope to be in love like that. Very beautiful:
