I'm worn out. I went to a 70's-Themed Step-A-Thon this evening at the gym that lasted 2 hours. I had already worked out earlier with the command. I've been helping run a physical fitness program for my command since last week. It's going to go through the end of next week, and it's for people who are out of shape to help them get ready for the PRT (Physical Readiness Test). We do aerobics in the mornings MWF and yoga mid-day. On T/Th, we do a mock PRT in the morning and command PT in the afternoon. Plus I give lectures MWF on making wise choices when it comes to eating and general fitness. It's a bit of a challenge for me as well because the trainers make the workouts so intense.
I'm really hoping to run a half-marathon by the middle of next year. I don't expect to run the entire course, but I know I could run/walk it. The Whidbey Island Marathon and Half Marathon is coming up April 2nd, and if I'm not out to sea, I'd like to give it a shot.
I'm kinda glad that I'm not going anywhere for Christmas. Well, kinda glad, kinda sad too. I'm glad b/c I'll be able to catch up with all my 'to-do' stuff. I really expected to get a lot done over the Thanksgiving holidays -- returning emails, writing letters, cleaning house, etc. -- but because I was so sick, I didn't accomplish a thing. Over the holidays we're getting a whole bunch of time off. We'll only have to report to work something like every fourth day, which is great. Yeah, I won't be able to be with some branch of my family for the holidays, but I think the satisfaction of accomplishing all the things I've been wanting to do for the past few months will help make up for it (and, of course, the fact that I'll be going home in January to see all my grandparents and old friends).
