So Much, So Much...

Well. I can't remember the last time I wrote a meaninful post on my blog. This year has been full of changes for me, and it continues to bring me new surprises. I kicked it off in April when I graduated with a BS (which we all know what that really is), double-majoring in Environmental Biology and Geography. It's nice to finally be done. I turned right back around, and 3 days after graduation ceremonies, I started graduate school. My first class this summer was a Biology Study Tour to the Florida Keys. Freaking awesome! I had such a great time. If I can pull up some of the pics, I'll post them here when I get the chance. In fact, there's a couple of things that happened that would be worthy of telling in a whole 'nother post. Anyhow, right after that, I was back for a few weeks, and then I left for a bouldering trip to Squammish, British Columbia, which could be viewed as part fun/part disaster. More later. Later in the year, my life took a turn...I can't say for the worst (although sometimes it feels that way), but definitely different...A long-term relationship ended, followed closely by the death of my grandfather, whom I was pretty close to. Positive things have happened lately, too. I started September with my first instructor job as a GTA at JSU, teaching Geology & Geography Labs. That experience has been both frustrating and rewarding. I also scored a new job with the National Park Service, which seems to set me on the path to fulfilling my dreams of working for the Park Service. I am currently working as the Fire Technician out at Little River Canyon in Fort Payne, Alabama. I am excited about the possibilities for this job and where it can take me, both professionally and locationally. Good stuff.

I've really gotten into cyclocross this season, too. I've kinda become obsessed with cycling in general. If I'm not at a race, I'm training for one. It's definitely a bug I don't mind having. The people are rad & I have so much fun.

For the most part, I have to say that the lows have been devestatingly low. But the highs have exceeded my expectations. I don't know if this evens out or not, but that's just how it is...A year of extremes for me. I'd really rather not do it all over again.

Today I'm engaged in football. What's so awesome about today is that it's raining outside & pretty dreary, which makes for a perfect day for staying indoors & yelling at the TV. I'm watching GA/GA Tech right now, but the big game comes on at 2:30...It's time for the Iron Bowl, baby!! Been waiting for this for a long time. We've been beat the past 6 times we've met, but this time, we're gonna dominate them! Roll Tide!
