I've always heard about how a Phoenix 'rises up from the ashes,' but I never put much thought to it. I guess I just kinda envisioned this bird coming up from some fire to fly off into the sunset. Well, the myth is that the phoenix lives for 1000 years, and then sets fire to itself and its nest, in order to facilitate it being reborn. Everything burns to ashes, and then a new, young bird arises to live another 1000 years.
Sometimes we have to rise above the rubble and start anew.
