An unsustainable and ecologically devastating practice is happening all around the nation, and it's known as mountain top removal. Coal removal companies literally blow up mountains to find deep buried coal to be used for energy. There's a website that can show you how you are affected by this process, and it gives you avenues for protesting. For my area, I found out that Alabama Power buys coal energy from these mining companies.
I fail to see why we aren't investing more in solar power and battery technology.

ReplyDeleteI suspect such efforts are being squelched by oil company lobbying in Washington. You know, drill, baby, drill. I think it is perfectly feasible to build homes in parts of the southeast and southwest that are completely "off the grid" with a combination of solar, wind, and battery power. I'm not sure about the building costs, but we have to start sometime.
