So I watched 'Dog: The Family Speaks' tonight on A&E. I understand that Duane 'Dog' Chapman captured Andrew Luster in another country; however, I feel the U.S. should not extradite him. Here's a guy who has done a lot of good: for his community, for his family, and for himself. Yeah sure, there's a bit of white-trash element to Dog & Beth and the gang (ok, we can go with plural here on the elements)--it's part of why I watch his show. They're definitely not the most refined folks, but they really try to make a difference. If you're not familiar with his show, when he arrests people he tries to talk to the folks to get them to change their ways. He's not just out there bringing people in for the money; he cares about their well-being and where they're headed in their lives. Why this judge signed off on the warrant is beyond me. It's not just about following the letter of the law, because here in America, we allow bounty hunting. Mexico doesn't, and here is where the issue arises. According to this program, in Mexico this is considered a misdemeanor. If everything else is political, then why not make this a political issue too? What I mean by that is, if someone had murdered another in Mexico then yes, I believe they should be extradited. But this guy, no (and his brother and son who also face charges). He commited a misdemeanor, and it was to bring a criminal to justice. Not just any criminal -- this was Andrew Luster, who was charged with 86 counts of rape. Eighty-six!! Violent acts, too.
So here's another part of why I'm upset with this situation. Dog was originally arrested and held in a Mexican jail for a few days immediately following his capture of Andrew Luster. He made bail, and was subsequently told that charges would not be pursued if he just quietly left. So why now? Why 3 years later?
I think this whole situation is another example of what's wrong in America.

And I want to discuss Rita Cosby for a moment. Seriously. She's no ordinary talking head, this woman. She's a talking head with a voice that sounds like she gargled with brake fluid. After smoking 3 packs of cigarettes. I mean, how did she get to be in this industry? I understand that she's a decent reporter, albeit one who sometime still acts as if she works for what they call the 'Ministry of Propaganda,' (aka Fox News). I definitely like her better than, say, Ann Coulter. She seems to have a more caring personality. I think I found Ann Coulter's heart in my icebox the other day.

Brilliant! It's the Christian way.
Hey, I watch DOG!!
ReplyDeleteSo is he still in jail?
Where have you been? You missed a good meeting tonight. A gal came in drunk and confessed to slipping after three years of sobriety! I sat next to her and got dizzy from the smell. WHEW! Better her than me!
