Back from Oklahoma again

Just returned from Oklahoma again -- I was there to help J recover from back surgery. I spent the night at the hospital for 2 nights, and then we were back at Dad's house for the rest of the time. I stayed busy most of the time, but it was good to visit again. I also got to spend time with J's sister-in-law and her daughter. Her sister-in-law is hilarious, and her daughter is a talented athlete at just 8 years old. I took her and Rusty hiking along the Pryor Nature Trail, and I got to introduce another person to letterboxing. I also found my first geocaching box while we were out there. The only thing that creeped me out (again!) were the spiders. I want to say they were crab spiders?...Just about every 100 yards was a full web that I would run into. Rusty came outta there with 10 ticks on him! Not my idea of a nice walk in the woods...but we had fun, regardless.

The 4th of July, like any holiday, is always a benchmark to look back on. The last 4th I was in Japan on deployment. While I was over there I saw the best fireworks show I have ever seen put on in honor of Friendship Day in Yokohoma. This year I didn't do much except watch the fireworks put on by Dad's neighbor's. Those Okie's really love their fireworks! I'm sure most of those people had sank a few hundred into their displays. Not too bad.

I had a great day today -- learned how to change spark plugs, wires, and my brakes from the guys up at the Auto Hobby Shop. It only cost me the parts, too. I guess there are a few benefits to being in the military. I also found out about the climbing wall on base where I'm going to start volunteering so that I can learn how to climb. Hopefully it will help me to overcome my fear of heights...
